Today was a pretty uneventful day. The WBC count I gave yesterday was slightly wrong. My fingers slipped and it should have been 45.5. Today his WBC's were 31.7. His Hct was 26.4, so they gave him some blood this morning. His blood cultures taken from 2/3 came back positive in both bottles for gram + cocci--staph epidermidis. They drew a repeat set this morning. We, along w/ the providers, are hoping it was just a skin contaminate and we don't have another infection to try and ward off. They were also able to increase his feeds to 2.5ml/hr. He is growing and the providers say he looks great on exam. He needs to grow those lungs and of course get some more body fat. I got to change a wet diaper this afternoon and he's getting fat on his lil bottom!! It's so stinkin cute! :) I got to kangaroo care with him this afternoon for about an hour. His sats kept hovering around the 80's and would occasionally jump back up to the 90's. I was trying to tell him to take nice deep breathes and singing softly to him. All my lil tricks weren't working. He looked completely content through it all. We just need stronger lungs. :) So this will be the new way to communicate with our family and friends. We want to keep everyone up to date. This way we can type more and give a better picture of our lil miracle. Thank you again for all your love and support. We greatly appreciate it. I know we might sound like a broken record in that department, but we greatly appreciate the encouragement. Our lil man was sleeping pleasantly on his belly with his lil bottom up in the air when I left this afternoon. Can't wait to be back tomorrow morning!!
