April 8, 2013:

RJ is still doing great!! They made a number of changes on rounds today. They weaned his bubble cpap pressure from 8 to 7, d/c'd his diuretics, potassium, and phosphorus, lowered his sodium med, and increased his feeds to 42 mls/hr. That's the most changes we've had in one day for weeks!! They also talked about having the lactation specialist come and start helping RJ get oriented to breastfeeding. It didn't happen today, so I'm hoping it will happen tomorrow. I'm anxious to be able to breastfeed like a normal mommy. I want to experience it so bad... So, lots of progress today and when we checked on him this evening he was still on room air and not even really noticing his pressures got weaned. As of last night he was up to 4 lb 15 oz, so I'm guessing when we call before bed that he will be up to the 5 lb mark!! We had such fun snuggling today. I really think being able to hold him more is aiding in his increased weight gain. He sleeps so soundly either in the crook of my arm or on my chest.

I'm actually blogging from RJ's room while sitting in the lazy boy chair. I can imagine having him home and sitting here rocking him or sleeping with him. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll come home for my birthday (May 3rd)!! It would by far be the best birthday present ever...

Welp, it's about time to pump again so I can keep up with RJ's feedings. Thanks for all the prayers, love, and support!!
